The Streets of New Haven

Where I (re) fell in love with analog photography

2020 - 2022

I hit a creative block during the pandemic and somehow I got this crazy idea to put down all of my digital photography equipment and go back to the old days and pick up film. Immediately, I fell in love with the process. I had taken a short class during a study abroad in 2017, but I had to re-teach myself everything related to developing and fine printing film photographs. I turned my small 1-bedroom apartment into a lab and used my bathroom as a darkroom. Almost every day, I’d take a walk down the streets of New Haven or nearby small towns carrying nothing but a bag of film and my camera. It has been almost 3 years since then and film has become a primary medium in my work. The process is long and meticulous, but the results are worth it.
