HELLO!
Jay Po Gordon (b. 1996 in Vietnam) is a photographer, designer, and mental health advocate currently based in Baltimore, MD. Jay is a self-taught photographer. He started using cameras to make clay-mations to upload to YouTube when he was 10 years old. As he grew older, photography became a crucial outlet during difficult times, including the passing of his father in 2023. Throughout college, Jay worked as a portrait photographer, offering free photoshoots to Midwest families to hone his skills. Over the years, he perfected his craft and in 2020, began developing and printing his own film photos in his DIY studio apartment darkroom. This personal journey and the meditative process of working with his photographs inspired Jay to later become a mental health advocate and help others find their own peace.
Currently pursuing a degree in social work, Jay also volunteers regularly with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to end the stigma around mental illnesses. Through his work, whether capturing the smiles of a family photoshoot or the evening scenes of Baltimore City, Jay aims to bring a sense of ease and calmness to those who view his work.
